"The Sustenance Of Prayer"
Series: A New Life
by Osella Clabaugh
ITGM RADIO
Scripture: "Seek the
Lord and His strength, seek His face
continually." I Chronicles 16:11 (KJV)
Today I would like to speak to you on the
Sustenance of prayer. According to Webster
"Sustenance" means : means of support,
maintenance, or subsistence : 2 a: the act of
sustaining : the state of being sustained b: a
supplying or being supplied with the necessaries
of life 3: something that gives support,
endurance, or strength
I Chronicles 16:11 says "Seek the Lord and His
Strength, seek his face continually." and John
15:7 reads "If ye a bide in me, and my words
abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it
shall be done unto you."
My friend God loves you
and he wants to supply your every need. God wants
to support you and give you strength that you may
endure what ever comes your way. BUT we (you and
I) need to
learn to ask. Matthew 7:7 says "Ask, and it
shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find,
knock and it shall be open unto you."
I am here to tell you that many of us "...have not because
we ask not". Often times Wayne has told our
children, "We can't help you if we do not know
what you need." I remember getting a call late
one evening from one of our daughters. She was
stranded out on the highway because her car had
ran out of gas. We took her some gas and then
took her to a station and filled her car up with
gas. I asked her, "Honey... why didn't you tell us
you needed money for gas?" Her reply, "I thought I
would be okay and I didn't want to ask". If she
would have asked, she wouldn't have been stranded out
in the cold - out of gas.
You know something? That's just how our "Heavenly"
Father feels and He even tells us so. You see, He not only wants
to meet our needs as Luke 11:9 says, "And I say
unto you, ASK and it shall be given you..." but
God loves us and he also wants to give us the
desires of our heart. Look at Mark 11:24. "Therefore I
say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when
ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye
shall have them." Now, If HE said
so, it must be true.
God bless you, let's pray.
Father we love you and thank you for loving us.
I thank you Lord because you long to meet our
needs and to give us the desires of our hearts.
O Lord teach us to come boldly to the Throne of
Grace and
"ask", so that You may hear and and answer our prayers.
Father, supply our needs and continually draw us
closer to you each day. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
