Scripture: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou are with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalms 23: 4 (KJV)

Yesterday as I spoke on the sustenance of prayer we talked about how God meet our needs, how he supplies for us. But my friend I just want to share with you that the sustenance of prayer goes a whole lot further.

Years ago, as most of you know we had a little boy born. His name was Micah David he lived for 7 days to the minute and then the Lord took him home. This was very hard for us. We had been looking forward to his birth. We had two little girls and now we would have two little boys. We went through some dark hours, some emotional struggles. 30 days after his death the hospital called Wayne, myself and our children in. We went and set in a big conference like room. They wanted to know how we were doing and if we needed counseling. We told them we were doing fine. I remember the hospital's head counselor asking us, how we were able to come back so quickly. Our reply, God carried us through. He was there with us. I really do not know how a non-Christian could make it through. Most of us have read the poem about the footprints in the sand, believe me this was one of those times when there was only one set of prints and they were God's.

Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Maybe you have had to set at the bedside of a loved one as God took them home. Maybe you have had to sit and watch as one of your little ones or other family member was so sick and suffering and felt so helpless because you could do nothing for them. Maybe you've had to sit in the doctor's office and hear the word CANCER. You may have watched as your home burnt down or was destroyed by the flood waters. We have all had to walk through valleys of darkness but God has always been our sustenance; He has always been there in the shadows holding us up, and He will always be there reaching out a helping hand. Isaiah 43:2

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Is there any thing you are going through today that you just feel like you are unable to persevere just remember those verses and reach out to Jesus, he is standing there just waiting for you and he will lift you up and give you the strength you need to carry on. God bless you my friend, let's pray.

Father we come to you today seeking your love and your strength. Father lift us up above our circumstance. Thank you Lord for meeting our needs, for hearing and answering our prayers. We love you Lord and we thank you so much for Jesus, in whose name we pray Amen
