Texts:
"And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him..." Gen
28:1 (KJV)
What a glorious WORD this is today of the
forgiveness of THE FATHER!
It reminds me of that verse in Lamentations 3:21-23:
"This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It
is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not. They are new every
morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Oh Praise His Name
For that PROMISE!
You know, if ever there was a wrong that
should be punished, it was what Jacob had done to
Isaac - his Father. But there was reason that Isaac
didn't punish Jacob, nor chide him in anyway. Are
you ready? THIS IS AN AWESOME WORD THIS MORNING...
He didn't punish him because the blessing had
already been given!
No matter who received that blessing from the Father
of the house... it was so sacred that is was as if
it had been cast in stone. It was HIS FATHER'S WORD!
But Oh friend... there's more...
This Blessing wasn't just the blithering of an old
man, sending his son of to college, Isaac's blessing
upon Jacob came in the form of a PRAYER. Now, can there
be any greater blessing that a father could place
upon his son - that a mother could place upon her
daughter than to pray "with" them?
I could tell you of at least two immediate cases
where Osella and I know of a situation where the
relationship between the father and son are so
strained that they haven't spoken for years. We know
of at least one case... where the father is dying and
the son will have nothing to do with him and if the
son was to come home to see his father - he lives
just a few miles away (less than 10), the father
would probably throw him out on his ear. (I cleaned
up what's really been said)
Dad, do you know how important your blessing is to
your son today?
What would it take for you today to
be man enough to step-up and tell him you love him and
that you're praying for him. What would it take for
you to
walk up and put your arm around him and tell him
"I'm proud of you son! What's more, I believe in
you!"
He doesn't have to be doing everything right -
but he'll want to if he knows the old man is
watching and that he's rooting for him to make it.
And Dad, do you dare... will you dare to lay your
hands on his shoulders and invite the blessings of
God on his life, and then remember that the next
time you get angry with him? Remember that there is
something "Spiritual" about your son now because
you, in the Name of Jesus... "blessed him"?
Oh, can you
feel that power there my friend? I can feel it just
talking about it. There's something very powerful
about that connection between you and your son: in
fact, it's necessary!
Mom, do you have any idea how much your daughter is
struggling and while she may act as though she has
it all under control, the warm embrace of a mother's
hug and a precious word of prayer on her behalf,
would so ground her that all of Hell could not shake
her loose.
Let's pray together this morning shall we?
Father... How I thank you for the mornings that you
come to me in the middle of my work load or even
during times when I'm studying or just catching up on
the day's news and you call me aside to just love
me; to bless me; to remind me that I am your son. I
long for those visits each day Lord and for the
presence I feel as you connect with me through your
Holy Spirit... and my heart becomes full and wants
to explode with your goodness. You are amazing
Father and I Praise Your Name today for my own son
and the work you are doing in his life today. But
most of all Father, I thank you for the promise that
when I falter and even when I fail in my walk with
you as your son... Your mercies are new every
morning. How Awesome You Are! I LOVE YOU LORD! In
Jesus' Name I Pray, Amen.
