Scripture text:
"But
whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give
him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall
give him shall be in him a well of water springing
up into everlasting life." John 4:14
We live in a very busy world.
My day starts at 4:45am every morning and ends
anywhere between 11pm and 1am. Pastor Wayne's
day is even longer. It still seems as if there
are not enough hours in a day. I am sure if a day
was 30 hours long we still would say there was not
enough hours in a day. We work many hours just
to make ends meet. Many of you hold two job.
Then there's the children and or grandchildren.
The house cleaning and the yard work. There's
the church services and duties. There are
those who need visited and prayed for. We all
go from before daylight until after dark. We
get worn out and run down. We need rest.
Many of us get that way spiritually
to. Sometimes it seems as if we are in a desert
spiritually. We need a fresh touch from God a
refreshing touch from God. We are spiritually
thirsty. John 4:14 says "But whosoever
drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall
never thirst; but the water that I shall give him
shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life." I know that sometimes
we can get so busy working for the Lord that we
forget to stop and get refreshed spiritually
ourselves. We need to come and drink from that
water. David says it so well in Psalm 42 :1-8
"As the hart panteth after the water
brooks, so panteth my soul, after thee, O God,
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God; when shall I come and
appear before God?
My tears have been my meat day and night, while they
continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in
me; for I had gone with the multitude, I went with
them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and
praise, with a multitude that kept holy day,
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou
disquieted in me? hope thou in God; for I shall yet
praise him for the help of his countenance.
O my God my soul is cast down within me; therefore
will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and of
the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy
waterspouts: all the waves and thy billows are gone
over me.
Yet the Lord will command his loving kindness in the
daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me,
and my prayer unto the God of my life."
Yes my brothers and sisters in
Christ there are times when we all thirst for God.
Please take time to spend with God. To drink
of his Word and His Love. When was the last
time you just sat down and read the Bible and said
God speak to me and fill me. In all the
business of this world you must find time to come
and drink from the water of God. Find time
today just to tell God how much you love Him.
Just as you long to hear that from your spouse or
your children or your parents, God longs to hear it
from you today. God bless you. Let's
pray.
Father we are a thirsty people.
Our Souls are thirsty. Lord quench our thirst.
We love you Lord and we long to be drawn close to
you. Teach us O Lord to slow down and to spend
time with you, to drink of your water. Lord
teach us to praise you every day of our life. Teach
us to rely on you O Lord. Today Lord bless us
and refresh us. In Jesus name I pray.
Amen.
