Scripture text:
"Salt
is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness,
wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves
and have peace one with another." Mark 9:50
Do you
remember when you first got saved, or when you were
baptized or when you dedicated your life to Christ.
Do you remember when you said use me Lord. You
were so excited and on fire. You felt like you
could win the world for Christ. I remember
when
God called me to go into the ministry There
was no burning bush and no bolt of lightning.
It happened in 1968, but I remember it as if it was
yesterday. I was laying on the living room
couch on a Sunday afternoon and just as clear as day
I felt the Spirit tell me, Osella I want you in full
time service.
I went
to church that evening and I approached the pastor
as I entered the chapel and said Major Merritt (It
was a Salvation Army Corps) I want to go to
seminary, God has called me. He looked at me
and said are you sure. Everyone expected my
youngest sister to become an officer in the
Salvation Army, but not me. I had
graduated from business college and had an excellent
job. I said yes, I know God has called me. I
was so excited. I spent the next year and a
half getting ready to go. I was on fire for
the Lord. I witnessed to everyone. I
mean everyone, at work at the store on the street
corner. God had placed a fire for souls within
me.
How about you,
can you look back and remember. What happened
when God first touched you. Did you tell your
family and friends. Did you spend time in prayer and
searching God's word. Now after years of
witnessing are you still on fire, is that fire still
burning inside of you.
My friend Mark
9:50 says
"Salt is good: but if the salt have lost
his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt
in yourselves and have peace one with another."
My friend salt is used to season, to bring life to
food. It is used to tenderize meat. It
is used to cure and preserve. You fill
your salt shakers with salt, but if it sits around
for a long time it gets lumpy and it looses it
flavor and really is of no use. In Mark 9:50
Jesus is telling us that we are the salt. We
are Jesus' salt. We are the Christian
seasoning. We are used to tell the world about
Jesus to win them over to him. Are you a
strong seasoning a strong witness for Jesus.
Do you still have that fire that burning in your
soul to win the lost for Christ, to tell the world
that Jesus loves them. Or through the years have you
lost your flavor has your fire started to burn out.
My friend, time is running out. Jesus is
coming. Do you need a fresh infilling from
God's Holy Spirit. Get on fire again for
Jesus. Oh my friend come to Him today and ask
Him to touch you and set you on fire for Him again.
Let's pray my friends.
Oh Father
touch us, fill us, rekindle that fire that once
burned with in us. Oh father use us to go
forth and win the lost for your kingdom. Help
us to boldly tell the world about your love.
Refresh us Lord that we may once again be the salt
of the world. Use us to show love to all
mankind, use us Lord to bring inner peace to those
we come in touch with. O Lord touch us, touch
us just now, touch us with they power O lord.
O Jesus use us, O Jesus use me, O Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus touch me. In your name I pray. O Father
I long for that fresh touch. In Jesus name, touch
us. Amen
