SCRIPTURE: "For thou art not a God that hath
pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell
with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight:
thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt
destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor
the bloody and deceitful man." Psa 5:4-6 (KJV)
For those who say that God is a God of LOVE only and
He does not aggressively punish the wicked, I would
say that today's text would give you an insight to
just how the Lord Looks upon those who are the
"workers' of iniquity.
Here's the problem, temptation and not being able to
defeat it. I have people of all ages writing to me
on a weekly basis asking for prayer to be able to
overcome the temptations of sin in their lives. Not
being there with them it is pretty hard to work with
them like I would if I were there in their city as
their Pastor. But the ALL POWERFUL WORD OF GOD does
give us some guidelines to help us in this area and
I would like to take this time to share them with
you today. Look at Proverbs chapter 4 and let's
start at verse 20. It says there:
Pro 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine
ear unto my sayings.
Pro 4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep
them in the midst of thine heart.
Pro 4:22 For they are life unto those that find
them, and health to all their flesh.
So, how many of you have read your Bible this week?
How 'bout today?
I don't say that in a condescending tone... this was
a passage that the Lord put before me several times
in this past couple of weeks.
The WORD OF GOD is POWERFUL. For me, just picking up
my Bible gives me a sense of POWER, not my POWER,
but the Anointing Power of God The Holy Ghost is all
over that book. It has been for years, the #1 Seller
of any other book on the market.
But the WORD there in Proverbs 4:20 tells us to do
more than pick it up and hold it... it tells us to
read it, make time for it, and read it again and
again... so that when the tough times come in will
be there in our soul and spirit and give us strength
to carry on, or to carry out the assignment He has
laid on our heart for the day or for life for that
matter.
Now LOOK at what that 22nd verse tell us about those
WORDS...
"...they are life unto
those that find them, and health to all
their flesh".
It's not enough to say that things are going to
change. It's not enough to say that you are a new
man or a new women. You may be nothing more than the
seed that was sewn in stony ground and when the
weeds come along - all the struggles and trials of
just living in a jungle (very few live in a Garden),
and you let it choke out what you received: that
seed that made you say, "Things are going to
be different this time". The WORD of God is LIFE to
those who take the time to read it and to dwell upon
it and it is health to all their flesh.
Without the WORD you are like a ship without a sail
- let alone an anchor. You will be wind tossed and
battered and assured of destruction.
Now, most assuredly someone is going to say,
"Brother Wayne: we've heard this all before. This is
Christian Walk #101 stuff here. Newbie's get this
kind of stuff when they first become a Christian.
Give me something I can sink my teeth into..
something that will really change my life".
I just did.
Let's pray.
Father, I Thank you for the WORD and The POWER of
that WORD in my life today. I know that I haven't
always taken out my Bible and just sat down and read
it waiting on your fellowship. I have good
intentions every day to do that Lord and when things
get hectic and there are heavy demands made on my
life, my good intentions often go out the window,
and I', sorry for that Lord. I repent of that right
now Lord. I come to you just now Father, promising
that I will remember this devotional and apply it to
my life, realizing that without the POWER of your
YOUR WORD in my life, I cannot be VICTORIOUS! I pray
this prayer In Jesus Name, Amen.
