SCRIPTURE TEXT: "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Matthew 5:13 KJV

I hadn't watched television for quite some time (except the news) and the other day I decided to take a break and I sat down to watch Wheel of Fortune and some reruns  of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" back when "Regis" was the Host. I would like to believe that I'm smart enough to answer every question and win a million dollars... but they don't offer enough "lifelines" for me. By the way what's your telephone #?

Well, in this particular episode, Regis asked the young man who was getting set to play, how he was doing - and he replied, "Zesssty".  I had to laugh. Old Regis said, ..."You're what?"- having that look on his face that has made him famous. Well after asking my kids later on – I found out that it was a new term everyone was using at the time, for being more than okay, enjoying life!

Enter our text for today…

"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Matthew 5:13 (KJV)

I wonder if we ever stopped and really thought about how many of us, when questioned about our Christian walk - would be able to reply with "zesssty" knowing what it means.

The text today asks the question... "if we have lost our zeal and our taste for God; if we are no longer God chasers but have become merely 'saved and satisfied', how will the world ever be won?" The Bible tell us, "Where there is no vision, the people perish:" (Ref., Proverbs 28:19)  In fact our text for today says,

"...it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."

It follows then, if the once "on fire" Christian has lost his "zeal" for God, and for witnessing to others about him - all will be lost. For, "Where there is no vision, the people perish."

IS THAT A SCARY THOUGHT OR WHAT?

Have you lost your zeal that you once had for God? Does your heart burn with the fire for God that you once had when you first became a Christian? Or have you slowly flickered away to a light almost gone out?

Friend, God has not changed!

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, Ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. Come, Ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry." Ps. 34:8-15

Father: I want my life to be “Zesssty” for you! I want other to see flavor as well as favor, and that they will want to know more about Jesus. I know I can only accomplish that by personal time of reading your WORD and praying so that Jesus always comes shining through in every one of life’s circumstances. I promise that I will begin that again today, and make it a part of my everyday walk with you. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
